Project Meridian
Envisioning smart appliances for the future
There are many smart/connected kitchen and home appliances that exist on the market today. The overall goal was to explore what our products and brands could look like in this world. We created a scenario and outlined how our products would interact with someone during a busy day.
I was the lead graphic designer for this Smart Appliances Design Jam. I worked along side one other designer, a UX/UI Researcher, and 12 Industrial Designers. We all worked together to create concepts for 6 smart appliances and one app that would seamlessly connect all appliances within someone’s home.
The Story
We worked together to create an overarching story where the user would use all smart appliances in one day and seamlessly do so with our smart app.
Style Guide
To match the fidelity of the products the Industrial Designers were outlining, we decided that the app should look more like a wire frame vs a functioning app. I provided this style guide to the Industrial Designers to make sure all displays and visuals were consistent.
Sensing Smarter
Data from connected products, like the mattress topper, translated from stats to relatable actions
Never Run Out
Enable easy access to in-app purchases or auto replenish consumables. Suggest new relevant products, like coffee flavors, to keep consumers coming back
Integrating Life
Connect with personal calendars enables products to adapt without input, allowing for a better night’s sleep or a meal that’s always on time
Meaningful Connections
Integrate with products across Newell and partner brands to make entertaining easier and wellness simpler
Adapt and Assist
Knowing the consumer’s skill and where they are in a process, we can proactively provide solutions to avoid mistakes like running out of time or burning dinner
Your Life, Your Way
Learn consumer preferences and understand what they like to recommend products and services tailored to their life
